Abutilon mollicomum (A. sonorae) Sonora Indian Mallow
PERENNIAL HERB or SUBSHRUB. Erect, woody, reddish, hairy stem
with fuzzy, obscurely toothed leaves that are much lighter in color on
the underside. Leaf stalks fuzzy. Leaves graduated in size,
with the larger ones lower on the stem. Flowers orange, with no spots
on petals. Seedpods have 6-10 carpels with a distinct triangular
point at the tip. In the Empires, on a steep slope in the shade of
rock outcrops in a large tributary to Davidson Canyon.
