Agave schottii Shindagger, Hellgrass, Lechugilla
SUCCULENT. A small agave with very narrow, stiff, sharp-pointed
leaves that grow in dense tufts.
Dies after flowering but produces abundant offsets and the colony may
spread to cover a large area.
Flowerstalks are very thin (1-2 cm) with bright yellow waxy flowers
and small crowded spherical seedpods.
Common throughout the Empires on dry, rocky slopes and ridges.
Colonies are often "nurseries" for ferns, small
cacti, and shrub seedlings.
