Ceanothus greggii  Redroot
EVERGREEN SHRUB.  Short, stout, treelike, with pale gray bark and tiny oval leaves.  Clouds of white flowers bloom in April, followed by woody capsules.  In the Empires, fairly common on limestone and marble.
