Dalea formosa  Prairie Smoke
DECIDUOUS SHRUB.  A small shrub with pinnate leaves on thin gray twigs.  Flowers are bright pink, yellow, and white, with plumed calyces that give the plant a fluffy, delicate look.  Blooms in March-May.  In the Empires, common but restricted to limestone and marble, often in dry places where few other plants will grow.
