PERENNIAL.  Dark green stems with sparse narrow clasping leaves and pale yellow flowers with round or slightly pointed petals.  Flowers to 2 cm., bloom in April, open only in bright sunlight.  Seedpods shiny, spherical, beadlike, .5 mm.  In the Empires, occasional in desertscrub on bajadas, limestone gravel, etc.
