Pellaea ternifolia  Birdfoot Cliffbrake
XEROPHYTIC FERN.  Leaves narrow, with all the leaflets in groups of three (ternate).  Leaflets narrow, spine-tipped, smooth on both sides, dark bluish green.  Stems dark brown or dark purple.  Rare in the Empires on granite outcrops.  P. truncata is larger, with triangular tripinnate leaves.
