Solanum eleagnifolium Silverleaf Nightshade
ANNUAL. Plants are erect, moderately stout, with a single prickly
stem. Long, narrow, grayish-green opposite leaves have brown prickles
on the midvein. Showy purple flowers have five ruffled petals and bright
yellow anthers. Round yellow berries may dry out and remain on the
dead stems throughout the winter. Blooms all summer beginning in May.
Roadsides, disturbed ground, dry sand.
